Zhang Yu, the chairman of the Mongolian Calcium Carbide Industry Association, told reporters that Inner Mongolia is the largest calcium carbide producer in China. By the end of 2011, it had more than 120 calcium carbide companies with a capacity of 9.6 million tons, accounting for about 40% of the country's calcium carbide production capacity. At present, calcium carbide enterprises in Inner Mongolia still have the problems of high energy consumption and low overall utilization due to the small scale and backward technology and equipment. According to the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" development plan, in the future, the main tasks of the calcium carbide enterprises in Inner Mongolia continue to further advance the level of self-renewal devices and accelerate the elimination of outdated production capacity. Enterprises need to tap into the potential of internal management, reduce energy consumption costs, and do a good job Safe production, to prevent major accidents.

Although self-renewal is not easy to do, it is difficult to do so, but the calcium carbide company in Inner Mongolia has actually launched an action.

Hu Bin, general manager of Montessori Electrochemical Co., Ltd., told reporters that in the second half of the year, the company will proceed to phase out two sets of 12 million kVA internal combustion non-hermetic carbide furnaces that do not meet the national access requirements for calcium carbide, and at the same time to the existing three 4 Thousands of kVA sealed furnaces to save electricity, water, emission reduction technology transformation. The specific approach is the introduction of computer expert operating systems, energy-saving short-network technology, energy-saving electrode technology, high temperature furnace gas direct dust removal technology, efficient closed water cooling five new technologies.

After the transformation, the new system will increase the power factor of the electrical system operation and reduce the heat loss caused by the radiation and conduction of the furnace surface. The new technology will also adjust the electrical parameters and furnace geometry to match the charge conditions to ensure proper operation of the furnace smelting system under high load conditions. According to calculations, a 40-kilovolt-ampere-closed calcium carbide furnace and its furnace gas dust removal system can reduce 37,200 tons of carbon dioxide gas each year, saving 21,7550,000 kilowatt-hours, saving 30% of water, and directly increasing efficiency by 4 million yuan.

Self-renewal and deep digging are ultimately based on the power of science and technology. The capacity of calcium carbide in Inner Mongolia Erdos Chemical Industry Group has exceeded one million tons in just a few years, reaching 1.3 million tons. The secret of its development is relying on advanced science and technology. The company has more than 20 large-scale sealed calcium carbide furnaces equipped with equipment and environmental protection technologies that have reached the leading domestic and world-class levels.

In addition to technological transformation and elimination of outdated production capacity, in the second half of the year, most of the calcium carbide enterprises in Inner Mongolia renewed their self-renewal and deepened internal and submerged operations and chose to train their employees’ knowledge and skills and safe production. In the first half of this year, due to improper operation of workers, Shuangxin Chemical Co., Ltd. of Ordos City suffered a calcium carbide furnace, resulting in 17 injured and 1 dead. The accident has exposed the weakness of the company's production safety training.
